Derby Information
Fishing Starts at sunrise each day: Saturday June 1st, and Sunday June 2nd
The Weigh-in dock at Burton Chace park will be open:
Note to Captains: Judge your travel time well. Remember maximum speed 8 knots in the outer channel, 5 knots and "No Wake" inside the harbor. You need time to tie up and transport your fish up the dock. Judges exceptions may be made by the Rules Committee for extenuating conditions. It is permissible to fish late on Saturday and weigh in your Saturday fish on Sunday.
25% Weight bonus for Live-Released fish. You must bring your live fish to the dock where it will be weighed and releaaed. If it swims away you claim a 25% bonus added to the weight of the fish. PLEASE keep fish alive with lots of circulating sea water.
We encourage use of IGFA recognized & approved fishing techniques with one exception, we allow the use of a trap hook on the halibut rig. The trap hook must be embedded into the tail of the bait. We strongly suggest that anglers use circle hooks as much as possible to reduce damage to fish being released. Please see Derby Rules for the complete list of rules.
Awards will start after 4:30 PM on Sunday June 2nd at Burton Chace Park, accompanied by food and beverages and a door prize drawing leading up to the award of the Halibut Derby trophies.
